Part of the intention when making this album was to include both Dub Reggae ”versions” ( the Jamaican proto-remix) as well as electronic remixes in several genres that feed off of Dub Reggae, presenting the various forms of remix side by side. With the help of Electro-Cumbia DJ El Guero Unico, electronic-folclore-cumbia pioneer Chancha Via Circuito, and These Days producer/Dub engineer Piper Street Sound, the Afro-Latin influences in These Days are now extracted to full-on Cumbias (or Nu-Cumbias, as it were). Uprise presents a mix that contains Dubstep and Drum and Bass, which is futuristic but stays rooted with delay and reverb splashes of Dub Reggae. heRobust’s mix of “Rhodes” smacks you in the face with a fresh sonic take on what was once a dubbed-out Afro-Beat tune. This album is not all clicks and clacks or indigenous technotrance though. Dub Architect and Piper Street Sound deliver some very, very deep dubs in the Jamaican/UK tradition as well. These Dubs demonstrates why DubConscious fits so well with a primarily electronic music label like 1320 Records. Building on the momentum of a stellar 2011 that saw them sharing the stage with the likes of STS9,
Bonobo, Big Gigantic, Emancipator and more, UUN is taking it to another level in 2012. Poised for a big
year, Up Until Now’s live show will be enhanced with the addition of Holly, a founding member of the
livetronica group, Noise [Org], and fellow ATLien.

After sitting in for a handful of shows last year, Holly will join Up Until Now for live performances at club
shows and festivals across the country, supplying percussive beats to accentuate Murphy’s
electronically-infused live future funk.

Murphy had this to say about the announcement:

“I’m psyched to have Kyle joining me as the official live drummer of Up Until Now. The energy he brings
behind the kit will add a much needed element to our live show. 2012 is going to be a huge year for Up
Until Now and I’m glad to have Kyle along for the ride!”
