After the unexpected attention from their debut EP, How Long Does It Take To Get To Space?, classmates Henry Allen and Preston Walker, known by most as the live EDM duo VIRTUAL BOY, took some time to create their follow up effort, Omega Supreme – EP, scheduled to release on 1320 Records on June 29th, 2010. The EP features two new tracks with remixes from cohorts, St Andrew and FuzZ, as well as the duo’s college professor and Los Angeles electronic producer don, Steve Nalepa. With another release on the horizon, Omega Supreme – EP is a regal sample of what Virtual Boy has in store for the future.

After nearly a year of intense synthesizer love making, FuzZ is set to release Sparkle Vision, a 23-minute collection of delightfully evil, and strangely sparkly music. Meshing distorted funk riffs with 80’s inspired synthesis and heavy psychedelic interludes, Sparkle Vision fuses several musical influences into a cohesive, and enjoyable wall of so

Steve Nalepa teaches a music technology class at Chapman University Conservatory of Music that has become a breeding ground for inspiring new talent; alumni include fellow 1320 artists Virtual Boy, FuzZ and St Andrew. His students receive an abundance of audio production and recording techniques, explore the history of innovation in music technology, and get deep with Ableton Live, Reason and Logic. Each week they create songs, score to picture and craft remixes, and also receive a heavy dose of career advice from the high-profile guests that come in and lecture throughout the semester. Previous guests include Mary Anne Hobbs, Nosaj Thing, Richard Devine, Adam Freeland, Daddy Kev, The Glitch Mob, The Delta Mirror, and Lorn to name a few. In this first installment of the ‘Professor Nalepa vs’ series of collaborative EPs between teacher and former students, Nalepa hit the studio with indie rockers, It’s Not Over Quebec. The resulting tracks developed organically into deep, heavy rocking electronic excursions that ended up pushing both artists into uncharted territory.
The duo of Eliot Lipp and Leo sound like something that could work, if they stuck to what they were good at. Well, instead of sticking to their guns, their project, Dark Party, is something reminiscent of house, disco and classic ’80s sounds, which is immediately welcome to anyone willing to get their groove on. With an upcoming full-length (entitled Light Years) to be released on Old Tacoma Records / 1320 Records, the group has decided to give up a track from their single release. Check out the fantastic grime-breaking Mux Mool remix of ‘Patrol Patrol’ after the jump.

“A new collaboration from Eliot Lipp and Leo 123, Dark Party’s “Status” is an electro-funk dream—a DJ could place it next to Newcleus or Dam-Funk effortlessly, its lush synth pads and sample-based hook bringing memories of Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo to mind.” - XLR8R
“Anything with Eliot Lipp’s name on it seems likely to bubble over with Moogs and disco-pulsing sheen — and that’s not a bad thing. Leo123 and Lipp wear the Dark Party moniker like a slick silvery space suit, moon-raking over Daedelus’s earthy, Latin-based percussion throwdown with chopped vocals and alien, purring analogues. Lengthy, too; it’s less of a dark party and more like a dark electrofunk odyssey.” - Miami New Times
We are humbled beyond words to announce that STS9 with the help of our amazing fan-base has achieved it’s goal of raising $150,000, which will build a home for the Make it Right Foundation in New Orleans. Through $1/ticket fees, a remix album featuring dozens of our closest friends giving away some of the best music out there, to VIP parties and sound-checks in numerous cities… WE DID IT! It is overwhelming to have the support of fans like you all who in turn made this possible. Of course a huge shout out to all the artists, mixers, masters, accountants, lawyers, and more that were there every step of the way.
A little reminder we can make shit happen when we all work together and believe in the end-game. Check back here often for updates on when we break ground on the new home for someone in need.
